The 8th Annual Turkey Bowl announces a new initiative in its Thanksgiving fundraising this season. The Kids Helping Kids Athletic Challenge will take place on November 3rd from 2-5PM at The Edge Sports Academy in Eatontown where children will have the opportunity to raise money for chronically and terminally ill children in a series of sponsored athletic challenges.
Each participant will be asked to donate a minimum of $5 to Jason's Dreams for Kids and are encouraged to seek outside sponsorship. The first 50 attendees will receive a free t-shirt and The Turkey Bowl will be offering prizes to all who compete throughout the event. The Grand Prize offered to the child who raises the most money for the event will be a Nintendo Wii system. Partnering also with Lunch Break, participants will be asked to bring a canned food item, bringing the theme of Thanksgiving full circle.
The day's five events will include a 30 Yard Dash Competition, Vertical Leap Contest, timed Obstacle Course, Free Throw Competition, and a Batting Competition. Groups will be broken into boy and girl categories ages 6-8, 9-11, and 12-14. The cumulative winner of each age bracket will win two, one hour sports training sessions at The Edge Sports Academy.
The Kids Helping Kids Athletic Challenge will also serve as a registration day for The Turkey Bowl main event which takes place November 24th at Thompson Middle School in Middletown. Additionally, the athletic challenge will be a sponsorship expo where participants will be able to meet and thank those who generously sponsor teams and contribute financially to this local tradition. The sponsorship expo is backed by Trinity Financial of Red Bank.
